Karen Johnson sent this first photo.  We are trying to locate parents for John.


John Wilks Denton, b. March 2, 1860 abt, 20 miles south of San
Antonio, TX in a mission. He died in 1916 in Ottawa Canada. (not proven)
He married our grandmother in South Dakota in 1897.

Lady on right is grandmother, Oaka Stipe Denton,
the lady on left I think is her sister Lou Alret Stipe Bassett.  Child is James.

would have been abt. 38 yrs. old here.

Pearl Elders.  (Virgil was brother to Ernest Edwin Roques)

In the following photos, the first is Ernest Edwin Roques, then Mattie Mae Haney, then Mattie with
Louisa Elizabeth Scoggins, another with Mattie and Louisa (the other 2 women
are unknown, might be sisters of Louisa), then Sarah Belle Haney, Cletus
Haney, Louisa Scoggins, William Haney, Mattie Haney, last picture is John Haney.

 


 

Margaret Elliott has shared this photo of her
great-grandmother, Mary Melissa Bird, b. 12/30/1847; d. 8/15/1925.
She was the wife of Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Zarr. 
In addition, she was the daughter of William
Parrish Bird and Calla "Callie" Roxanna Powell and the granddaughter of the
famous Texas Indian Fighter, Capt. John Bird, who was married to Sarah
"Sallie" Denton.
